
Topçuköy Hosts Honey Festival

The “Iskele Municipality Topçuköy Honey Festival” was held for the third time this year, celebrating the importance of honey production and supporting beekeeping activities in the region. The festival, organized with the collaboration of İskele Municipality, Topçuköy beekeepers, and the Northern Cyprus Beekeepers Association, took place today with various ceremonies and speeches.
President Ersin Tatar, along with several government officials, attended the festival and emphasized the significance of beekeeping as a tradition and culture. President Tatar highlighted the support provided by the state to producers and the role of beekeeping in the economy and environmental preservation.
Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu stressed the importance of involving young people in production and stated that the government is committed to supporting local producers. Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu emphasized the value of youth participation in production and praised the efforts to promote beekeeping standards in line with European Union regulations.
Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Hüseyin Çavuş discussed the government’s initiatives to address challenges in the beekeeping sector and promote local production. Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek highlighted the contribution of bees to agricultural productivity and emphasized the importance of honey production.
Various speakers at the festival underscored the importance of beekeeping for rural development and self-sufficiency in honey production. The event featured cultural performances, musical shows, and stands displaying honey products, aiming to raise awareness about the benefits of honey and sustain the beekeeping culture in the region.
The Topçuköy Honey Festival serves as a platform to showcase the achievements of beekeepers, promote local products, and foster community engagement in supporting the beekeeping industry. The festivities will continue throughout the day, culminating in a finale at 18.30.
