Turkish Embassy in Nicosia Donates $100,000 to CMP – BRTK
The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia has made a significant contribution to the Missing Persons Committee (CMP) with a donation of 100 thousand dollars. During the delivery of the contribution check to the Turkish Cypriot member of the CMP, Hakkı Müftüzade, Ambassador Yasin Ekrem Serim emphasized the dedication and determination with which the CMP continues its important work.
Ambassador Serim highlighted the fact that 52 percent of the missing persons have been identified and reunited with their families, expressing hope for the resolution of the remaining cases. The Missing Persons Committee, established in 1981, has been tirelessly working to find, identify, and return the individuals who lost their lives in the events between 1963-74 to their families.
Recognizing the vital role of the Missing Persons Committee, Ambassador Serim commended their ongoing efforts and reiterated Turkey’s commitment to supporting their work. The donation of 100 thousand dollars provided by Turkey this year reaffirms the country’s dedication to the cause.
In response, Hakkı Müftüzade expressed gratitude on behalf of the committee for the generous contribution, totaling over 1.7 million dollars since 2006. He emphasized the importance of these donations in enabling the committee to carry out their work effectively and expressed thanks to Turkey for their continued support.
The collaborative efforts between Turkey and the Missing Persons Committee reflect a shared commitment to addressing the humanitarian issue of missing persons and bringing closure to the affected families. With ongoing support and dedication, the hope is to continue making progress in resolving these cases and providing closure to those impacted by the events of the past.
