Turkish Historical Society Chairman accuses Armenians of atrocities against Azerbaijanis

Armenians committed atrocities against Azerbaijanis in the Caucasus, says Turkish historian

According to Professor Yuksel Ozgen, chairman of the Turkish Historical Society, Armenians have committed atrocities against Azerbaijanis in the Caucasus. This statement came after a panel discussion titled “Armenian atrocities against Turkic people in the South Caucasus and Anatolia” in Ankara.

Professor Ozgen emphasized that historical facts cannot be changed by attributing the massacres and atrocities to Turkic people. He also mentioned that the annual statements by Armenians about the so-called genocide on April 24 are a way to hide the crimes they have committed throughout history.

Turkey has always advocated for the creation of a joint commission and the opening of archives to reveal the real historical facts. However, the other side does not seem to want this proposal to be implemented.

Ozgen highlighted that information about the atrocities committed by Armenians against Turks during the First World War and similar crimes has been collected from archives worldwide. These events are also reflected in the archival documents of the Ottoman Empire period.

He mentioned that armed groups of Armenians committed atrocities against Azerbaijani brothers in the Caucasus, aiming to Armenize the region. Despite the unrealistic plans of a “Greater Armenia”, the uncovered facts will not allow these plans to come true.
