A Turkish Investor Begins Oil Production in Kyrgyzstan
In an exciting development for the energy sector in Kyrgyzstan, a Turkish investor has initiated oil production in the Kadamdzhai district near the Severny Sokh underground gas storage facility. This news was revealed by Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev during a meeting of the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Subsoil Use, and Industrial Policy of the Parliament.
The investment made by the Turkish investor totals $90 million, and they have successfully restored the pumping units previously used by Uzbeks to extract oil in the region. Currently, the oil production stands at 500 tons of “black gold” per day. Furthermore, plans are in place to open an oil refining and gasoline production plant by late October or early November.
Minister Ibraev also mentioned that negotiations are ongoing with the investor regarding the production of natural gas in the same region. This development signifies a significant step towards enhancing Kyrgyzstan’s energy sector and attracting foreign investments to boost economic growth in the country.
