Turkey and Turkmenistan Strengthen Economic Ties
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz has announced plans to increase trade with Turkmenistan to $5 billion, boost mutual investments, and enhance collaboration between business communities in both countries. The goal is to deepen the economic partnership and strengthen the bonds between Turkey and Turkmenistan.
During the 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, Yilmaz and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Nokerguly Atagulyev, discussed various ways to bolster Turkish-Turkmen relations. They exchanged views on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, transport, and scientific collaboration.
A protocol with 87 articles was signed, outlining concrete steps to advance bilateral ties. Agreements on transporting Turkmen gas to Turkey and developing the Middle Corridor are expected to bring significant strategic benefits to both nations. The focus will also be on strengthening cooperation in sectors like construction, industry, agriculture, and health tourism.
Following the meeting, Yilmaz and Atagulyev held a press conference to reaffirm the strong relationship between Turkey and Turkmenistan, which is grounded in shared language, religion, culture, and history. Both countries are committed to enhancing ties through regular high-level visits and collaborations.
The ongoing efforts to deepen economic cooperation between Turkey and Turkmenistan are expected to pave the way for greater prosperity and mutual benefits for both nations.
