Turkmen-Russian Strategic Partnership Issues Discussed
Turkmen and Russian officials recently discussed their strategic partnership during a meeting between the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, V. Hajiyev, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, M. Galuzin. The two diplomats discussed cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, emphasizing the significance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the Turkmen-Russian partnership. The meeting also highlighted the importance of Central Asia-Russia interaction as a separate area of cooperation. The Turkmen-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was recognized as being effective in developing trade and economic activities. In terms of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the two countries plan to organize joint scientific, educational, cultural, and sports events. The meeting also included high-level consultations on regional security issues where the parties discussed security as a vital component of the joint activities of the two countries, including fruitful interactions in matters of international and regional security.
