Turkmenistan Implements 2025-2029 National Plan Against Human Trafficking
Turkmenistan has taken a significant step in the fight against human trafficking by adopting the National Action Plan for Combatting Human Trafficking for 2025-2029. This important initiative, approved by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, demonstrates the country’s commitment to addressing one of the most serious global challenges.
Recognizing human trafficking as a pressing issue, Turkmenistan aims to actively participate in international efforts to combat this crime while upholding and promoting human rights. The National Action Plan, developed in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), focuses on prevention and close cooperation with international partners.
Turkmenistan’s strong legislative framework and previous National Action Plans highlight the country’s dedication to combating human trafficking. The new Plan for 2025-2029 comprises five sections outlining targeted measures, implementation timelines, indicators, and government agencies responsible for carrying out the tasks.
