Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Meets with Japanese Delegation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan recently held a meeting with a delegation from Japan, further strengthening the already robust relationship between the two nations.
On October 1, 2024, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, A. Gurbanov, met with the Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Central Asian and Caucasus Affairs, Mr. Ishikawa Masaki. During the meeting, both parties highlighted the strong level of development in Turkmen-Japanese relations, which is built on regular political dialogues at the highest levels.
The discussions focused on key areas for expanding bilateral cooperation, as well as collaboration within regional and international structures. The significance of the “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue was underscored as a crucial platform for enhancing relations between the two countries.
Furthermore, the diplomats acknowledged the success of inter-parliamentary cooperation, particularly referencing the visit of Turkmenistan’s National Leader, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Japan in September 2022.
Trade and economic cooperation were also on the agenda, with both parties highlighting the positive experiences in the gas chemical and transport industries, including joint investment projects. Additionally, preparations for the upcoming World Exhibition EXPO-2025, which will feature a delegation from Turkmenistan, were discussed in detail.
Cultural and humanitarian cooperation were also emphasized during the meeting, with plans for joint events in the near future. The diplomats reiterated the importance of continuing collaboration in the fields of science and culture to further enhance the strong bonds between Turkmenistan and Japan.
