Two Men Detained in Bishkek for Alleged Kidnapping of Girl for Marriage
On February 5, two men were detained in Bishkek on suspicion of kidnapping a girl for marriage, as reported by Nazira Alakunova, press secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs of Leninsky district of the capital.
The incident took place at approximately 11:40 p.m. on Arzamasskaya Street in Bishkek. The two individuals forcibly put the 23-year-old girl in a car and later dropped her off at the intersection of Dzhamsherchinov and Sadygaliev streets before driving away. The girl reported the incident to the police, leading to the initiation of a case under the article “Kidnapping of a person for the purpose of marriage” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The suspects, identified as 30-year-old B.B. and 31-year-old J.E., were apprehended by the police and taken to the temporary detention center. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have highlighted that kidnapping for marriage carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
