USAID Promotes Financial Independence for Civil Society
USAID Holds Forum on Social Entrepreneurship in Tajikistan
On June 1, 2023, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) organized a forum on social entrepreneurship in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The main objective of the forum was to provide civic actors with ideas on how they can keep their organizations operating without relying solely on grants and donations. Civil society representatives from Tajikistan and Central Asia discussed successful models of social entrepreneurship and outlined a roadmap for the future.
The forum brought together a wide range of civil society organizations, as well as representatives from the Parliament of Tajikistan, Ministry of Labor and Employment, and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. Participants discussed the positive impact of social entrepreneurship on the economy and society, innovative models of implementation, and the current practices governing social entrepreneurship in Tajikistan.
Through its Social Innovation in Central Asia (SICA) program, USAID remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote social entrepreneurship in Tajikistan. The forum served as a platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing, enabling participants to explore new ideas, develop partnerships, and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the social entrepreneurship sector in Tajikistan.
This event aimed to foster an exchange of ideas and experiences to promote social entrepreneurship as a catalyst for economic and societal development. This will enable civic actors to operate sustainably and without relying solely on grants and donations. The adoption of a legal framework and operating conditions that advance social entrepreneurship in Tajikistan was also discussed during the forum.
