Uzbekistan and Germany Agree to Labor Migration Collaboration
The Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan, Bekhzod Musayev, and the German government’s special commissioner for migration agreements, Joachim Stamp, recently concluded the fourth and final stage of negotiations on a migration agreement in Samarkand. This agreement has the potential to significantly impact opportunities for vocational training for citizens of Uzbekistan, based on German standards, as well as opening up avenues for high-paying employment in Germany.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan, if this agreement is signed, it will lead to an expansion of vocational training opportunities and employment prospects for Uzbek citizens in Germany. The proposal for this agreement was first introduced in 2023 during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Germany, with the aim of creating favorable conditions for temporary work for Uzbekistan citizens in Germany.
In addition, discussions have been underway regarding the possibility of expelling Afghans who do not have refugee status through Tashkent, without direct agreements with the Taliban. This highlights the ongoing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany in addressing migration issues and creating better opportunities for individuals seeking employment and vocational training abroad.
