Uzbekistan Extends Service Terms in Special Ranks by One Year
The Uzbekistani government has announced an increase in the terms of service for certain special ranks within various security and military departments. The Ministry of Justice reported that employees of the internal affairs bodies, state customs service, military personnel, and the National Guard will now serve one year longer in their respective positions.
This decision, outlined in Resolution No. 296 signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on August 21, introduces amendments to the Regulation on the procedure for serving in the internal affairs bodies. The new terms of service for special ranks include: senior lieutenant – 3 years, captain – 4 years, major – 5 years, and lieutenant colonel – 6 years.
Similarly, the terms of service within the state customs service have also been extended. Senior lieutenants of the customs service will now serve for 3 years, captains for 4 years, majors for 5 years, and lieutenant colonels for 6 years.
Furthermore, changes have been made to the Regulation on the procedure for military service by citizens, which now sets the terms of service for military personnel in military ranks at: senior lieutenant – 3 years, captain – 4 years, major – 5 years, and lieutenant colonel – 6 years.
The Regulation on the service of National Guard employees has also been updated to reflect the new terms of service for special ranks: senior lieutenant – 3 years, captain – 4 years, major – 5 years, and lieutenant colonel – 6 years.
These changes aim to enhance the stability and efficiency of the security and military institutions in Uzbekistan by providing a longer period of service for personnel in key positions.
