President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has recently signed a decree aimed at boosting the country’s textile and garment industry. The decree, adopted on January 16, sets ambitious targets to increase exports in the sector to $4 billion by the year 2025.
The main objectives outlined in the decree for the development of the processing chain in the textile and garment industry from 2025 to 2027 include:
– Increasing exports to $5 billion in 2026 and $7 billion in 2027
– Exporting finished products worth $500 million to the markets of the USA and European countries
– Expanding the use of advanced technologies and attracting international brands to increase the share of finished textile and garment products in total exports to 70%
– Attracting $5 billion in foreign investments and loans to further develop the deep processing of cotton fiber
To support these goals, the Uzbek government plans to introduce support mechanisms to create favorable financial conditions for deepening processing in the textile sector. Additionally, the “Made in Uzbekistan” program will be implemented to promote and advertise local products and brands on international marketplaces.
Furthermore, a factoring organization will be established under the “Trade Development Company” JSC to facilitate the growth of the textile and garment industry in Uzbekistan.
These measures signal the government’s commitment to driving growth and innovation in the country’s textile and garment sector, positioning Uzbekistan as a key player in the global market.
