Uzbekistan to Launch Unified Social Card for Improved Public Service Access

Uzbekistan to Introduce New Social Card for Citizens

Uzbekistan is gearing up to launch a new social card that aims to simplify access to a variety of public services and benefits for its citizens. The introduction of this card is part of an effort to streamline the process of receiving social support, making life easier for individuals who currently need to carry multiple documents for different services.

The social card will offer a range of benefits, including free travel on buses and the metro, compensation for electricity, gas, and educational expenses, as well as direct disbursement of pensions and assistance payments. This initiative was announced during a meeting chaired by the President to evaluate the effectiveness of social protection programs and establish priorities for the year 2025.

Currently, the paperwork burden for accessing social services in Uzbekistan is substantial, with citizens having to provide over 10 different documents such as birth certificates, disability certificates, pension books, student IDs, and bank cards. The implementation of the new social card is poised to address this challenge by offering a one-stop solution for accessing various benefits.

President of Uzbekistan stressed the importance of simplifying bureaucratic procedures and confirmed the launch of the unified social card to replace the need for multiple documents. The system will be initially piloted in Tashkent city and Yangiyol district until July 1, with plans for a nationwide rollout by the end of the year.

This new social card is set to revolutionize the way citizens in Uzbekistan access social services, providing a more convenient and efficient means of receiving support from the government.
