Uzbekistan’s Airports Serve 6.3 Million Passengers in First Half of 2024

Uzbekistan’s Airports Experience Significant Increase in Flight Operations and Passenger Traffic

In the first half of this year, Uzbekistan’s airports have seen a significant increase in both flight operations and passenger traffic. According to recent data, a total of 53,300 flights were operated in the first six months of the year, marking a 37% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, over 6.3 million passengers were served during this time, showing a 36% growth in passenger traffic.

Of the total passengers served, 1,263,304 were on domestic flights, while 5,106,080 were on international flights. This increase in passenger numbers reflects a growing demand for air travel within and to Uzbekistan. Cargo and mail delivery by air also saw an 18% increase, with almost 40.7 tons being transported in the first half of the year.

Currently, Uzbekistan’s airports operate passenger flights on 84 routes, which is a 15% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth can be attributed to the attraction of new carriers and the launch of several new routes simultaneously. Among the new airlines that have started operating in Uzbekistan are LOT Polish Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Türkiye’s AJet, as well as Spain’s World2Fly, which launched charter tourist flights to Tashkent and Urgench.

With a total of 45 airlines now cooperating with Uzbekistan’s airports, the country’s aviation industry continues to expand and attract more passengers and carriers. This promising trend is expected to continue in the coming months, further boosting the country’s air travel sector.
