Uzbekistan’s Footwear Exports Soar High
Between January and March 2023, Uzbekistan exported 5.7 million pairs of shoes to 11 countries, generating a revenue of $10.2 million from its footwear industry. This indicates a rise in the value of exported footwear by $1.9 million in comparison to the same period last year, according to the country’s Statistics Agency.
Among the 11 countries to which Uzbekistan made footwear exports, Kazakhstan emerged as the highest importer with 2.4 million pairs of shoes shipped from Uzbekistan. Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan followed with 2 million and 1 million pairs of shoes, respectively. Russia was the fourth-largest importer, importing 135 thousand pairs of shoes from Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan has been ramping up its efforts in the footwear industry to boost exports and diversify its economy. This recent data may indicate a positive shift in the country’s economic potential in a significant area of the manufacturing sector.
The increase in footwear exports may generate further foreign revenue for Uzbekistan and promote the country’s standing on the global stage. It also offers potential for job opportunities in the country’s footwear industry, benefiting not only the country’s economy but also its citizens.
