Uzbekistan’s Investment Boosts Private Kindergarten Network Expansion
Uzbekistan to Invest $50 Million in New Private Kindergartens
Uzbekistan is set to allocate $50 million towards the development of new private kindergartens, as announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a recent address marking Teacher and Mentor Day. This initiative, aimed at supporting the growth of the non-state education sector in the country, will see the construction of 200 new private kindergartens by 2029, accommodating up to 30,000 children.
Over the past seven years, Uzbekistan has experienced a significant increase in private educational institutions. The number of private schools has grown by 18-fold, from 27 to 500, while private kindergartens have seen a 12-fold increase, rising from 250 to 3,000. To meet the rising demand, funds from the Islamic Development Bank and the OPEC Fund for International Development will be utilized for the construction of new facilities.
To encourage entrepreneurship in the education sector, the government will provide concessional loans of up to 20 billion UZS, with partial interest coverage by the state. Additionally, up to 50% of school utility expenses will be reimbursed from the state budget.
President Mirziyoyev also emphasized the importance of digitalization in education, with plans to establish virtual laboratories for science subjects and transition state-run kindergartens to digital systems. The government has invested significantly in the education sector, with funds allocated for infrastructure upgrades and the construction and renovation of schools and kindergartens.
Furthermore, support will be enhanced for gifted students, with monetary awards for gold, silver, and bronze medalists in international academic competitions, as well as bonuses and salary increases for their teachers. The government also plans to create pedagogical clusters to improve teacher training programs, with the first two clusters to be established in the Andijan and Bukhara regions.
Uzbekistan’s commitment to the development of private education institutions and the enhancement of educational resources underscores the country’s dedication to providing quality education for its youth.
