“Voting continues at Istanbul Airport for Turkish elections”

Over 18,000 Citizens Cast Votes in Istanbul Airport for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections
Citizens living abroad showed great interest in the 2018 Turkish Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, with many opting to cast their votes at Istanbul International Airport. As per the election calendar decided by the Supreme Election Board (YSK), over 12 ballot boxes were set up at the designated areas on the arrival and departure floor of the airport starting April 27, to cater to the overseas voters.
To cast their vote, citizens registered in the overseas electoral roll were required to present their passports and IDs to the polling officials. The participation so far has been impressive, with over 18,000 citizens registered in the foreign electoral register already having voted at the Istanbul International Terminal.
The voting process will continue at the airport until the end of May 14, after which the ballots will be counted. The entire process has been smooth and incident-free, putting faith in the electoral process of Turkey. With the deadline for voting drawing closer, the officials and voters alike are hoping for a fair and transparent outcome.
