Tragic Drowning Incident in Derik: Young Man Loses His Life Despite Efforts to Save Him
A heartbreaking incident took place on July 7 in the rural Kocatepe Neighborhood of Derik district. Yasin Eliş, a young man seeking relief from the heat, entered a pond meant for animals to drink water and found himself in a dangerous situation where he was at risk of drowning. Luckily, bystanders managed to pull Yasin out of the water in time. He was then given first aid by health teams who quickly arrived at the scene after receiving a distress call. Yasin was subsequently transported to Mardin Education and Research Hospital for further medical treatment.
Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, it was with great sadness that Yasin Eliş succumbed to his injuries this morning. Following necessary autopsy procedures, Yasin’s body was released to his grieving family members, who laid him to rest in the cemetery of the rural Kocatepe Neighborhood amidst tears and sorrow.
The community is in mourning following this tragic loss. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident in an effort to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
