YDP Charter Congress Held; Nation’s Party Joins Rebirth Party
The Rebirth Party (YDP) held its Constitution congress recently, where significant announcements and decisions were made. The Nation’s Party officially joined the Rebirth Party, and amendments to the party’s statute were unanimously accepted. It was decided that Bertan Zaroğlu would become the Deputy Chairman and Party spokesperson, as well as the first-place parliamentary candidate for Nicosia in the upcoming general election.
The Statutes Congress took place at the Rauf Denktaş University Cultural Center in Nicosia. The congress started with the formation of a council, followed by a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. Council President Turan Büyükyılmaz expressed his commitment to helping the YDP grow and succeed.
YDP Chairman Erhan Arıklı, Bertan Zaroğlu, and former Minister Kenan Akın delivered speeches at the congress. Arıklı apologized for a last-minute change in the congress location, which resulted in some party members not being informed about the change. He highlighted the importance of unity and revealed the party’s goal of reaching 25 percent of the votes in any early elections.
Arıklı stressed the significance of the upcoming Presidential election in 2025, emphasizing the party’s stance on the preservation of the TRNC. He announced a merger with Bertan Zaroğlu and expressed confidence in the party’s success in the elections.
Zaroğlu, in his speech, highlighted the unity of the Turkish Cypriot people and expressed pride in the merger with the Rebirth Party. He outlined the party’s goal of winning 8-10 seats in the Parliament and becoming the leading party in the upcoming elections.
After the speeches, the amendments to the party’s charter were voted and approved. It was decided that Bertan Zaroğlu would hold the positions of Deputy Chairman, Party Spokesperson, and first-place parliamentary candidate for Nicosia.
The Rebirth Party aims to expand its reach in the TRNC and grow in strength with the recent changes and decisions made at the congress. The party’s commitment to unity, growth, and success in the upcoming elections was evident throughout the event.
