Zombifying Crystal Found in 601 People in Turkey
The fight against drug production and trafficking in Turkey continues to be a priority for law enforcement agencies and government institutions. A recent report by the Ministry of Interior’s General Directorate of Security highlighted the efforts made in 2023 to combat drug-related crimes in the country.
According to the report, there were a total of 251,851 drug-related incidents in 2023, with 313,416 suspects apprehended. Notably, methamphetamine seizures in Turkey reached an all-time high, with 21 tons 912 kilograms of the substance being confiscated. This marked a significant increase compared to previous years.
The report also highlighted the concerning trend of drug-related deaths in the country. In 2023, there were 300 direct drug-related deaths, with methamphetamine being responsible for 148 of these fatalities. The number of deaths caused by methamphetamine has been on the rise in recent years, posing a serious threat to public health and safety.
In response to the growing issue of methamphetamine use, the Ministry of Trade’s customs enforcement teams have been working diligently to prevent the smuggling of this dangerous substance into the country. In the first eight months of the year, 3 tons 332 kilograms of methamphetamine were seized at customs, marking a significant increase compared to previous years.
