The Supreme Election Board recently announced that over 1.3 million voters participated in the process. Specifically, 1 million 387 thousand 945 voters abroad and 100 thousand 897 voters at customs gates cast their votes in this election.
For Turkish citizens living abroad, the voting process will continue until May 9 at overseas representations. On the other hand, voters at customs will have until May 14 at 17.00 to participate in this democratic process.
This communication from the Election Board confirms the increased importance placed on voting in Turkey. The government encourages all eligible citizens to exercise their right to vote. By increasing its outreach to citizens living abroad and at customs gates, the Election Board ensures that voters have increased accessibility and convenience.
As voting remains an essential part of the democratic process, news of this high voter turnout is welcome news in Turkey. By increasing the number of voters participating in the upcoming general election, the people can truly make their voices heard at the polls.
