1 Dead as Wall of Damaged Building Collapses in Malatya
Teenage boy dies after being trapped under rubble in earthquake-damaged building
A tragic incident occurred in the Tecde District of Yeşilyurt district last night, where a teenage boy lost his life after becoming trapped under a collapsed wall in an earthquake-damaged building.
The victim, 17-year-old Muhammed Öz, lived with his family on Hüseyin Gazi Street and had reportedly entered the building across from their house before the incident occurred. Local authorities were notified of the incident and police and medical teams were sent to the scene immediately.
Despite all the attempts to save him, Muhammed Öz could not survive and was pronounced dead at Malatya Training and Research Hospital where he was taken for treatment.
The cause of the collapse is currently unknown, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. This tragic incident once again draws attention to the urgent need for safety measures to be put in place in earthquake-prone regions.
