Turkish Authorities Arrest 10 ISIS Members Linked to Church Attack
The National Intelligence Organization (MİT), alongside the Istanbul Police Department Counter-Terrorism Branch Directorate and Intelligence Branch Directorate, have successfully conducted a coordinated operation resulting in the arrest of 10 ISIS members. These individuals were part of the so-called Khorasan Province Turkey structure of the terrorist organization DAESH. The operation was carried out in response to their connection to the attack on the Santa Maria Church in Sarıyer.
A total of 12 people were apprehended and detained during the raid, which targeted 23 addresses in Istanbul, Kocaeli, and Yalova. Furthermore, an expanded operation led to the capture of 3 more individuals, including one person directly linked to the Santa Maria Church attack that took place on January 28.
Following the completion of their interrogations, 15 suspects were brought to court. Out of these, 10 were arrested and remanded to prison, while the remaining 5 were released under judicial control.
The successful operation stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment of Turkish authorities in combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the public. The swift and decisive action taken against these ISIS members serves as a strong message that acts of terror will not be tolerated, and those responsible will be held accountable for their actions.
