10 Million Smuggled Cigarettes Seized in Adana

Authorities in Kirikkale, Turkey have successfully carried out an operation against smuggling and organized crime, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of illegal goods.

The Provincial Police Department Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch teams conducted the operation between 12-22 February, leading to the discovery of 9 million 876 thousand macarons (filtered cigarette paper), 264 mobile phones, and 501 electronic cigarettes at various addresses. This significant haul of smuggled products highlights the ongoing issue of illicit trade in the region.

As a result of the operation, 10 suspects were detained by the authorities. Following the necessary procedures at the police station, 6 of the suspects were brought before a judge and subsequently arrested. The remaining suspects were released under judicial control pending further investigation.
