100 coins and 15 objects seized in Kocaeli historical artifact operation
The Provincial Gendarmerie Command in Dilovası district has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against historical artifact smuggling. According to a statement from the Governorship, the Gendarmerie teams conducted a search of a vehicle in the area and discovered 100 coins and 15 historical objects believed to date back to the Hellenistic and Byzantine periods.
As a result of the operation, three suspects were taken into custody and a judicial investigation has been launched against them. The recovered artifacts are considered to be of significant historical value and efforts are being made to determine their exact origin and ensure their protection.
