Minister Göktaş Celebrates Foster Families at Istanbul Children’s Foundation Festival
Minister Göktaş recently delivered a speech at the “Istanbul Children’s Foundation Foster Family Festival,” where he expressed his gratitude towards foster families for providing a loving and compassionate home for children who are separated from their families. The event, organized by the Istanbul Governorship and held in a theme park in Eyüpsultan, aimed to celebrate the efforts and love of foster families in nurturing and raising children in a warm family environment.
Göktaş commended all the foster families who have opened their homes and hearts to children with great devotion. He also extended his appreciation to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s wife, Emine Erdoğan, for her support of the Voluntary Ambassadors Project, which aims to provide a safe and loving environment for children to thrive.
The Minister emphasized the importance of children growing up in a secure and caring family. He stated that the government is committed to ensuring the best interests of every child, working towards providing them with a bright future. Under the leadership of President Erdoğan, efforts are being made to create a healthy, safe, and prosperous life for each child.
Currently, 10,266 children are growing up in a loving and trusting environment with the support of 8,551 foster families. Additionally, 1,132 children with special needs are receiving care from foster families. Minister Göktaş highlighted ongoing efforts to expand child protection services and ensure that every child’s health, care, and educational needs are met.
A new project in collaboration with UNICEF aims to strengthen the foster family system in Turkey. Specialized training programs for foster families and service units are being developed to enhance support and coordination between relevant institutions. Arrangements have also been made to improve the effectiveness of the temporary family protection system in pilot provinces.
Minister Göktaş emphasized the importance of family-focused social policies in building a strong and resilient Turkey. He reiterated the value of a childhood lived in an environment of love and trust, stating that children raised by foster families will make significant contributions to the nation’s future.
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül also praised the Foster Family Service Model for providing hope to thousands of children. He highlighted the role of foster families in helping children pursue their dreams and announced plans to increase the number of volunteer ambassador foster families in the city.
Overall, the event celebrated the dedication and love of foster families in providing a nurturing home for children in need, ensuring they have a supportive environment to thrive and grow.
