Twelve Suspects Arrested in Istanbul for PKK/KCK Connections
In a recent development, twelve suspects have been arrested in Istanbul as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office Terrorist Crimes Investigation Bureau. The operation aimed to uncover the activities of the terrorist organization PKK/KCK, specifically targeting individuals believed to be members of the organization’s TDÖ structure and who had close ties to Ahmet Özer.
Following the detention of the suspects, police procedures have been completed and the individuals have undergone a health check. They were then taken to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan for further proceedings.
Upon questioning at the prosecutor’s office, the suspects were presented before a judgeship on duty, with a request for their arrest. The Criminal Judgeship of Peace on Duty ultimately decided to arrest eleven of the suspects, while one individual was released on condition of judicial control.
Furthermore, the investigation revealed new information regarding Ahmet Özer’s connections to the KCK/TDÖ and his involvement in certain activities. As a result, the scope of the investigation has been expanded to delve deeper into these findings.
The investigation initially focused on identifying twelve suspects who were believed to be part of the organization’s TDÖ structure and who maintained close contact with Ahmet Özer. It was revealed that six of the suspects held delegate positions within the organization’s HDK structure. Additionally, the involvement of five suspects in propagandizing for the terrorist organization was uncovered, along with one individual actively participating in KCK-related activities and the so-called “Justice and Peace Commission” structure within the organization.
Following the issuance of a detention order by the prosecutor’s office, the Istanbul Police Department TEM Branch conducted simultaneous operations that led to the apprehension of the twelve suspects.
The arrests mark a significant development in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and dismantle the operations of the PKK/KCK organization in Istanbul. Authorities continue to investigate and gather further evidence to ensure the prosecution of individuals involved in unlawful activities linked to these terrorist organizations.
