12 Members of Organized Crime Group “Caged” Detained
A Major Success in the Fight Against Organized Crime in Istanbul
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ali Yerlikaya, announced a major crackdown on an organized crime group in Istanbul. In a statement on his social media account, the Minister revealed that the “Cage-42” operation targeted the criminal organization led by Beratcan Gökdemir, who is wanted with a red notice.
Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and peace of the nation. “We will not allow organized crime organizations, no matter what their size, to disturb the peace of our people,” he stated. The successful operation resulted in the capture of 12 members of the organized crime group.
According to Yerlikaya, the criminal organization, led by the fugitive Beratcan Gökdemir, operated with a ruthless and violent approach. The group was involved in using threats and violence, injuring people with firearms, and shooting at homes and workplaces using long-barreled weapons. The authorities confiscated an AK-47 infantry rifle, an M-16 infantry rifle, and a Glock brand 9 mm pistol during the operations.
Minister Yerlikaya commended the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command for their dedication and successful execution of the operation. He also shared images of the operation on his social media account.
