143 Tajik Students Graduate from U.S. Embassy English Access Microscholarship Program

The U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe proudly celebrates the successful graduation of students from the 2022-2024 English Access Microscholarship Program in various cities across Tajikistan. Supported by the U.S. Department of State, this two-year scholarship equips talented, economically disadvantaged students aged 14 to 17 with valuable English language skills, effective communication, and critical thinking abilities.

The program aims to provide students with better job opportunities and future exchanges in the United States. Many Access students have gone on to become alumni of prestigious programs such as FLEX, SUSI, Fulbright Foreign Student Program, and Global Undergraduate Exchange Program, highlighting the program’s success.

At the closing ceremony in Vahdat, U.S. Ambassador Manuel P. Micaller, Jr. congratulated the participants and emphasized the program’s role in fostering cultural exchange and lasting friendships among Tajik and Afghan youth. Ambassador Micaller expressed pride in the students’ achievements and recognized the support of parents and teachers in making the program successful.

Since its establishment in 2004, approximately 2,500 students have graduated from the English Access Microscholarship program. Graduates are now alumni of U.S. Government programs and can join the U.S. Alumni Network of Tajikistan (USANT) for collaboration, educational opportunities, exchange programs, and international friendships.

The U.S. Embassy remains committed to supporting educational initiatives that empower youth and promote mutual understanding between the United States and Tajikistan. Through various English language programs, over 4,600 teachers and 2,500 high school students have benefited from continued education. English Resource Centers at universities and English language textbooks provided to schools further enhance English language learning across the country.
