Luxury Car Driver Detained in Istanbul for Traffic Violations

In a recent incident that has drawn significant attention on social media, the Istanbul Safety Traffic Inspection Branch Directorate apprehended a driver of a luxury vehicle claiming to be the "nephew of the governor." The vehicle, bearing registration "34 BJK 215," was stopped by virtual traffic patrol teams in the Maslak Ayazağa area due to multiple traffic violations.

The 22-year-old driver, identified as S.O., was found to be in violation of several sections of the Highways Traffic Law. Charges included the improper use of light devices, operating a vehicle with a non-standard license plate, violating traffic lanes, and engaging in close tracking. As a result, the driver was issued an administrative fine totaling 146,134 Turkish lira.

In addition to the hefty fine, the authorities confiscated S.O.’s driver’s license for a duration of 30 days, and the vehicle was banned from traffic.

Istanbul Governor Davut Gul took to social media to clarify the situation, stating, "The person who does not comply with the traffic rules is not my nephew. The use of light and sound devices in vehicles is illegal. Necessary legal actions will be taken regarding this matter."

This incident has sparked discussions about road safety and adherence to traffic laws, highlighting that no one is above the law, regardless of their claims or connections.
