16 Journalists Killed in Gaza Clashes Between Hamas and Israel, IFJ Reports
In a recent update by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), the number of journalists killed in the ongoing clashes between Hamas and Israel in Gaza has reached 16. Additionally, many other journalists have been reported as injured or missing.
The IFJ’s written statement highlighted the names of the journalists who lost their lives in the conflict. Among them were Muhammad Ali, Halil Abu Azira, Semih en-Nadi, Isam Behar, Muhammad Beluşe, Abdulhadi Habib, Husam Mubarak, Ahmed Şihab, Muhammad Fayiz Yusuf Abu Matar, Said al-Tavil, Muhammed Subh, Hisham en-Nawaciha, Assad Shamleh, Muhammed es-Salihi, İbrahim Lafi, and Muhammed Cerun.
Furthermore, the statement mentioned the absence of news regarding a journalist and a photojournalist. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
The IFJ emphasized the importance of taking necessary precautions for journalists working in conflict zones. They urged journalists to wear safety equipment and insisted that media institutions provide them with the necessary protective gear before sending them into the field.
Previous statements from the IFJ revealed that 13 journalists had already lost their lives in Israeli attacks.
The escalating violence in Gaza has taken a toll not only on the general population but also on journalists who strive to report the truth amidst the turmoil.
