16-Year-Old Murder Victim Helin Ressur Commemorated with Anniversary Events
Commemoration Event Held in Famagusta on Anniversary of Zehie Helin Ressur’s Death
A special event was held in Famagusta to mark the anniversary of the tragic death of Zehie Helin Ressur, who was murdered at the age of 16 exactly one year ago. The event took place at the Famagusta Memorial Circle, where a banner was unveiled in memory of Heli.
During the event, Helin’s mother, Zişan Saltukhan, delivered a speech expressing the family’s quest for justice. The attendees then gathered at Bandabulya for a commemoration event, which was supported by various organizations, including the CTP Women’s organization.
At the commemoration event, MAKAMER President Sıdıka Özdoğan addressed the crowd, calling for the necessary punishment of those responsible for Helin’s death by the Turkish Cypriot judiciary. Özdoğan also emphasized the need for proper training to prevent violence and promote gender equality.
CTP Women’s Organization President Doğuş Derya echoed these sentiments, stating that it is crucial to demonstrate a strong will to end violence and take all necessary precautions to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
The event also featured performances of Helin Ressur’s favorite songs, creating a meaningful tribute to her memory.
