17-Year Manhunt Ends: Murder Suspect Finally Captured
After years of being on the run, a man who was wanted for a 2006 murder in Turkey has finally been caught. Mehmet Ş.G, a former partner of the victim Tekin Aytar’s coffee shop, was identified as the perpetrator of the crime. On the day of the incident, Mehmet Ş.G went to the coffee shop and shot Tekin Aytar, his former partner, with a gun before fleeing the scene. It was believed that Mehmet Ş.G was angry with Aytar for talking about him behind his back, leading to the altercation that resulted in the fatal shooting.
After being on the run for years, the law enforcement agencies finally caught up with Mehmet Ş.G in Kartal. Law enforcement had been in pursuit of Mehmet Ş.G for years before finally getting a breakthrough. Law enforcement officials determined that Mehmet Ş.G was in the Kartal region using intelligence and other resources until he was finally tracked down in front of Kartal Training and Research Hospital. He was apprehended in an operation that was conducted on May 1, 2022.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Mehmet Ş.G had previously been involved in another murder case in 1998. He killed his wife Nurcan Güneş, his wife’s mother Güldenur Kılıç, and his wife’s brother İsmail Kılıç with a pistol. Amazingly, after his imprisonment, he was released with a pardon despite his heinous crime. Unfortunately, he went on to commit another murder after his release, went into hiding, and has been on the run ever since.
Mehmet Ş.G is now in custody and will go through the legal process to face his crimes. It remains to be seen what the outcome of the trial will be. Hopefully, justice will be served, and the families of those impacted by his actions can find closure.
