Coast Guard Detains 49 Irregular Immigrants Trying to Cross from Izmir
In a recent development, the Turkish Coast Guard Command detected a group of irregular immigrants attempting to cross the Aegean Sea from Izmir. The Coast Guard Unmanned Aerial Vehicle captured images of a rubber boat carrying the individuals.
Upon receiving the information, Coast Guard teams were immediately dispatched to the location. They were able to apprehend 49 irregular immigrants who were on the rubber boat. Additionally, three individuals who were identified as immigrant smugglers were also taken into custody.
Further efforts by the Coast Guard teams led to the capture of an additional 99 irregular immigrants. These individuals were found trying to illegally cross the sea on rubber boats in both the Çeşme and Foça districts.
Following the appropriate procedures, all the irregular immigrants were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management. This is to ensure that the necessary actions can be taken regarding their immigration status.
Taking into consideration the ongoing issue of irregular migration in the region, the Turkish Coast Guard continues to carry out its duties diligently.
