20 Injured in Aksaray Bus Accident
A passenger bus accident in Aksaray resulted in 20 people being injured, according to initial reports. The incident occurred on the Aksaray-Konya Road at the Eşmekaya location when the driver, Mustafa Akbaba, lost control of the steering wheel and crashed the bus.
Emergency services, including the gendarmerie, Health, UMKE, and Fire Brigade teams, were immediately dispatched to the scene to assist with the injured passengers. The wounded individuals were then transferred to hospitals in Aksaray for treatment.
Aksaray Governor Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoglu arrived at the scene to assess the situation and gather information from the authorities. He mentioned that they are currently battling against snow with 125 vehicles and 60 staff members to ensure the safety of the roads.
In a statement, Kumbuzoğlu shared, “Unfortunately, our passenger bus from Marmaris to Van was overturned due to icing and type. There were 31 people on the bus, including 3 crew members. We have 20 wounded individuals, whom we have already transferred to hospitals. I will visit them shortly. We will also accommodate 10 uninjured passengers. We are taking all necessary precautions to prevent any further accidents in our province. We urge our drivers to heed all warnings from the police.”
The authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident to prevent similar incidents in the future.
