President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was re-elected as the President of Turkey in the country’s second round of Presidential Elections held on May 28, 2023. Erdogan received 52.16 percent of the total votes while his opponent, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, received 47.84 votes, according to data from AA. In the first round of voting held on May 14, a total of 55 million 833 thousand 175 votes were cast, and 1 million 37 thousand 101 of these votes were deemed invalid. Erdogan received 49.52 percent of the votes, Kilicdaroglu received 44.88 percent, Muharrem Ince received 0.43 percent, and Sinan Ogan received 5.17 percent.
The voting process began at 08:00 on Sunday, May 28, 2023, and ended at 17:00 the same day. After the completion of the voting process, the ballot boxes were closed, and the counting of votes began.
