2025 budgets approved for Family and Social Services and National Education Ministries
The General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly has accepted the 2025 budgets of the ministries of Family and Social Services and National Education. During the Assembly, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş emphasized that they intervene in all cases across the country and provide immediate support to those affected. Göktaş stated that they follow legal processes meticulously to protect the rights of victims and ensure that perpetrators receive the necessary punishment.
The Minister also mentioned their objection to decisions of non-prosecution and their dedication to standing by victims and their families. Göktaş highlighted the Ministry’s involvement in various cases, including the one concerning the tragic death of 5-year-old Eda Nur due to negligence in Istanbul.
Furthermore, Göktaş stressed the importance of safeguarding the rights of children, keeping them away from political manipulation, and working towards the best interest of the children. He urged MPs to approach issues related to women and children with sensitivity and collaborate for the benefit of the youth.
In another session, Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, addressed criticisms regarding financial allocations to non-profit organizations. He clarified that the Ministry’s budget is solely used for educational purposes and denied transferring funds to professional organizations. Tekin also expressed readiness to reopen village schools based on demand.
Overall, the General Assembly accepted the budgets of the aforementioned ministries and their affiliated institutions. Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Gülizar Biçer Karaca, adjourned the meeting to reconvene at 11:00.
