Tragic Accident on Nicosia-Gazeyurt Main Road Claims the Life of a Young Man
A fatal traffic accident occurred on the Nicosia-Gazeyurt main road in the morning, resulting in the untimely death of 24-year-old Yaya Ahmet Can Kevenk. The incident involved a car with plate number YM 003, whose driver, identified as 22-year-old Tahsin Yamaner, fled the scene but was later apprehended in Lefke.
According to the police press officer, the accident took place at 00:40 a.m. on the Nicosia-Gazeyurt Highway when Tahsin Yamaner was driving recklessly on the double-lane road towards the west direction. Yamaner’s car collided with Ahmet Can Kepenek, who was walking from north to south on the road at the time. Instead of stopping, Yamaner fled the scene without providing his name and address, leaving Kepenek fatally injured.
Tragically, Yaya Ahmet Can Kepenek succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. Following an investigation, the driver of the YM 003 plate car was located and arrested in Lefke at 05:00 on the same day. The investigation into the incident is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
