ASTANA – Kazakhstan made history by hosting the 27th Asian Table Tennis Championships for the first time from Oct. 6 to 13, as reported by the Tourism and Sports Ministry’s press service.

The prestigious tournament saw the participation of 210 athletes from 26 countries, competing in various categories including singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and team events for both men and women.

Kazakhstan’s men’s table tennis team achieved a remarkable feat by securing a 3-1 victory over Iran in the match for 7th and 8th place. This marked a historic moment as Kazakhstan had never achieved such a high ranking in men’s team competitions before. Moreover, the team managed to finish in the top eight for the third consecutive time.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a longtime table tennis enthusiast, showed his unwavering support for the sport by attending the final matches of the singles and team events.
