306 Teachers Appointed by Public Services Commission in TRNC, Says Çavuşoğlu

Over 300 Teachers Appointed in TRNC, Education Minister States

The Public Services Commission has appointed 306 teachers to work in schools in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), according to a statement from the Ministry of National Education. The appointments were made in line with the needs of the academic year 2022-2023.

Responding to claims from the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers’ Union about the appointment process, Education Minister Nazım Çavuşoğlu stated that it was intended to manipulate public opinion and did not reflect the truth. He also stressed that the goal was to improve the quality of education in the TRNC and that he welcomed the arrival of teachers with graduate academic titles.

Çavuşoğlu also announced that they will request teachers with postgraduate academic titles in the future to improve the quality of the education system. He emphasized the importance of in-service training for teachers and said that union objections to these changes would not deter them from their goals.
