Daniel Noboa Wins Ecuadorian Presidential Election with 52.28% of the Votes
In a closely contested election in Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, the candidate from the National Democracy Movement, emerged as the winner with 52.28% of the votes. The leftist candidate, Luisa Gonzalez from the People’s Revolution party, received 47.72% of the votes, according to the official results after 91.46% of the votes were counted.
During his victory speech, Noboa expressed his commitment to work towards building a new Ecuador, stating, “A new hope begins tomorrow, and as of tomorrow, I will start working as the new president of the republic, Daniel Noboa.” His words were met with applause and optimism.
On the other hand, Gonzalez gracefully accepted defeat and acknowledged the victory of democracy. She congratulated Noboa and his supporters saying, “Democracy won, and we offer our sincere congratulations.”
Diana Atamaint, the President of the National Electoral Council (CNE), confirmed that over 90% of the ballot boxes had been opened, and it was evident that Noboa would lead in the final vote count. Atamaint commended the Ecuadorian citizens for their active participation in the elections and emphasized, “Democracy won today, and Ecuador won today.”
Given the unprecedented security challenges faced by Ecuador in recent months, around 100,000 officers, including soldiers and police, were deployed to ensure a safe and secure electoral process. This significant security measure aimed to safeguard the integrity and fairness of the elections. Additionally, 300 international observers were present to monitor the election proceedings.
The victory of Daniel Noboa marks a new era for Ecuador, as the country looks forward to the leadership and initiatives promised by the newly elected president. With optimism and enthusiasm, Ecuadorians anticipate positive changes and the beginning of a prosperous future.
