Coast Guard Rescues Dozens of Irregular Migrants Off the Coast of Turkey

The Turkish Coast Guard recently conducted multiple rescue operations to save irregular migrants stranded off the coast of various districts in Turkey. According to a statement released on the Coast Guard Command’s website, the operations were successful in rescuing a total of 46 irregular migrants, including children.

The first operation took place near Akçalı Island in the Datça district, where a coast guard helicopter and three boats were dispatched after receiving information about irregular migrants in the area. The teams managed to rescue 15 individuals from the sea and 23 more from a rubber boat.

In another operation in Armella Bay in the Marmaris district, a coast guard boat and diving team were sent to rescue a group of irregular migrants. A total of 8 migrants, including 3 children, were safely caught on land.

Lastly, a Coast Guard aircraft detected a group of irregular migrants on a rubber boat off the coast of the Milas district. A Coast Guard boat intercepted the vessel and successfully apprehended 19 migrants, among them 2 children.

Following the rescue operations, all irregular migrants were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing. The Turkish Coast Guard continues to monitor the country’s coastal areas to ensure the safety and security of all individuals at sea.
