4-Storey Building in Küçükçekmece Evacuated and Demolished for Safety Reasons
The authorities in Istanbul took swift action after a 3-storey building collapsed in the Kartaltepe District. Following the collapse, teams completed their inspection of a nearby 4-storey apartment building and deemed it to be at high risk as well.
As a precautionary measure, police teams implemented security measures and the controlled demolition of the building began. The residents of the building were allowed to enter in a controlled manner to retrieve their valuables before the demolition. Some residents opted to stay with relatives, while others were accommodated in nearby hotels.
The coordinated efforts of AFAD and municipality teams ensured the safety of the residents and prevented any further potential risks. The quick response and decisive actions taken by the authorities helped to avert any further disasters in the area.
