Turkish Armed Forces Conducting Operations in Northern Iraq and Syria to Eliminate Terrorist Threat
The Turkish Armed Forces have been conducting Claw series operations in northern Iraq since 2019 as part of their strategy to eliminate the terrorist threat at its source. According to security sources, the Turkish Air Force has been playing a crucial role in the fight against terrorism across borders.
As part of the sudden air operation concept, warplanes have been standing in the air without interruption, providing indirect air protection to base areas in northern Iraq through air patrols. The strategy change has led to air operations against terrorist targets in northern Iraq almost every day in recent times.
Target Analysis and Evaluation Groups hold daily meetings where hearings, observations, human resources-based information, UAV detections, and signal intelligence data regarding the movements of terrorists are discussed to determine terrorism targets. In the last 3 months, 452 targets were hit by air operations, 99 targets by instant intelligence, and 36 targets by UAV shootings.
In addition to the operations in northern Iraq, the Ministry of National Defense announced that 7 PKK/YPG terrorists were neutralized in the north of Syria and 3 PKK terrorists in the north of Iraq.
