4iG Partners with Axiom Space for Space Industry Collaboration
4iG Space and Defense Technologies (4iG S&D) has recently announced the signing of a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with Houston-based Axiom Space. The primary goal of this collaboration is to explore and develop joint opportunities in the space industry, particularly in the field of orbital data center (ODC) services.
The partnership between 4iG S&D and Axiom Space will involve the establishment of a joint working group to identify potential areas for development and synergies between the two companies. Axiom Space, known for its leadership in commercial spaceflight and space infrastructure development, is currently working on building the world’s first commercial space station. The company specializes in providing solutions for microgravity research, focusing on in-space data networks, storage, and processing.
It is worth noting that Axiom Space is also a key partner of the Hungarian astronaut program, HUNOR. This partnership is particularly significant for Hungary as the upcoming Ax-4 mission by Axiom Space will include Tibor Kapu, a mechanical engineer selected as an astronaut for the Hungarian to the Orbit (HUNOR) Program. Kapu shared insights into the Hungarian space program’s main focus and research agenda during the recent press conference for the mission.
On the other hand, 4iG S&D is an independent holding company that combines the space and defense industrial interests of the 4iG Group. The company aims to enter the global market in satellite development, manufacturing, operation, drone manufacturing, defense industrial, and digitalization services. Their HUSAT Program, the first privately-initiated satellite program in Central and Eastern Europe, plans to launch a constellation of Earth observation satellites by 2032.
The expansion of 4iG in the space sector has been a significant focus for the company, with Chairman Gellért Jászai attending a crucial meeting with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Michael Waltz in Florida. The meeting highlighted the presentation of the HUSAT satellite program by the 4iG Group, and discussions on SpaceX’s launch services and other potential partnerships with Elon Musk. Elon Musk, known as the founding CEO of SpaceX, also played a vital role in the meeting.
