5 Suspects Arrested for Illegally Seizing Real Estate from Victims Borrowing Money

A recent study conducted by the Economic Crimes Bureau of the Istanbul Financial Crimes Branch Directorate, under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, has uncovered a criminal organization involved in fraudulent activities.
The ringleader of the organization, identified as TA, along with 8 other suspects, were found to be engaging in activities related to “establishing, managing, and being a member of an organization for the purpose of committing a crime” and “qualified fraud”. The suspects would lend money to individuals facing financial difficulties, and in return, request guarantees in the form of land registry transfers that appeared to be sales. Subsequently, the suspects would coerce the victims into returning the money they had received, ultimately seizing their real estate through threats and blackmail.
In response to these findings, a simultaneous operation was carried out in Istanbul and Tekirdağ, resulting in the apprehension of the leader of the criminal organization, TA, and 4 other suspects. Additionally, authorities seized 18 title deeds, 5 bank receipts, 16 purchase and sale agreements, and 14 invoices during the searches conducted at the suspects’ addresses.
The detained suspects are currently undergoing legal procedures at the police station as the investigation into their criminal activities continues.
