5 Suspects Arrested for Unlawful Demonstrations in Istanbul
A total of 140 suspects have been detained in Istanbul on charges related to violating the ban on all kinds of meetings, demonstrations, and press releases between March 19-23. The investigation was carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in order to maintain public order and prevent any provocative actions.
Out of the 140 suspects, 39 have been arrested and taken to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. The remaining 101 suspects have been referred to the Magistrate Criminal Judiciary with a request for judicial control. The court has ruled for the arrest of 5 suspects, while 27 suspects have been ordered not to leave their homes as part of judicial control measures. Another 108 suspects have been released under different judicial control measures.
In total, 268 suspects have been brought before the Istanbul Magistrate Criminal Court as part of the investigation. The authorities are continuing their efforts to ensure public order and prevent any further disturbances or illegal activities during the specified period.
