Turkcell Showcases 5G Technology at TEKNOFEST
Turkcell, a leading telecommunications company in Turkey, made a significant impact at TEKNOFEST, Turkey’s premier aviation, space, and technology festival, with their demonstration of 5G technology. The event, held in Adana between 2-6 October, drew a large crowd to witness the capabilities of Turkcell’s 5G network.
One of the most impressive demonstrations was the remote control of an excavator located 667 kilometers away in Kocaeli, controlled by an operator at Turkcell’s 5G stand in Adana. This showcase highlighted the advancements in machine-to-machine communication made possible by the low latency and high concurrency capabilities of 5G technology. The ability to control devices from long distances with 5G was noted to increase operational efficiency and flexibility in various industries.
Turkcell General Manager, Dr. Ali Taha Koç, emphasized the transformative potential of 5G in sectors such as education, health, transportation, and production industries. Koç stated that Turkcell has completed preparations for the transition to 5G and is committed to ensuring Turkey’s position as a technology-producing country.
Koç highlighted the importance of Turkey becoming a technology producer, not just a consumer, and stated that Turkcell’s investments in new generation technologies will lead to radical transformations in various sectors. Once regulatory processes are complete, Turkcell aims to provide the best and most reliable 5G service in Turkey, driving the country’s digital transformation.
TEKNOFEST was praised by Koç as the perfect platform to showcase the potential of 5G technology. He stated that the high speed, capacity, and efficiency of 5G will significantly contribute to Turkey’s technology ecosystem. Turkcell’s successful demonstration at their 30th-year anniversary at TEKNOFEST reaffirmed their commitment to advancing technology and innovating for Turkey’s future.
