Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya recently announced the success of the “Cybergeye-48” operations, which resulted in the capture of 65 suspects involved in qualified fraud and online child obscenity crimes. These suspects were found to have a transaction volume of 11 billion 400 million in their accounts. The operations took place in 19 provinces across Turkey.

Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the government’s commitment to combating cyber crimes, stating, “We are on the heels of those who commit qualified fraud using information systems. We will not let them open their eyes. Just like in the Black Homeland, our virtual patrols are on duty 24/7 in the Cyber ​​Homeland.”

Under the coordination of the Cyber ​​Crimes Combating Department of the Gendarmerie General Command, the Provincial Gendarmerie Commands organized the “Sibergöz-48” operations in provinces such as Adana, Ankara, Istanbul, and more. In Trabzon, 33 suspects were caught for making unfair profits through fraudulent schemes promising high returns in a short period via social media applications.

In Aydın, 9 suspects were apprehended for creating fake legal documents and defrauding citizens under the guise of attorney fees, case closing fees, or settlement fees. Moreover, operations conducted in various provinces resulted in the capture of 23 suspects involved in the crime of online child obscenity.

Following the operations, authorities seized numerous electronic devices, SIM cards, debit/credit cards, and crypto wallets. Minister Yerlikaya praised the efforts of law enforcement in cracking down on cyber criminals and ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the virtual world.
